Who We Are...

 

Burin Peninsula Supported Employment Services is a non profit organization which aids individuals with developmenal disabilities find and maintain meaningful long-term employment.

 

What is Burin Peninsula Supported Employment...

 

Burin Peninsula Supported Employment provides free employment services to clients with developmental disabilities on the Burin Peninsula. The organization is run by a volunteer board of direcors made up of professionals, business persons, parents and persons who have a general interest for persons with disabilities.

 

The Corporation operates with funding provided by Department of Advanced Education and Skills.

 

 

 

What Services We Provide...

 

Through the Supported Employment Program, Burin Peninsula Supported Employment Services provides job search and job match services. We also provide career counselling, job development and self employment initiatives to our clients.

 

 

What Is Supported Employment...
 

Supported Employment is defined as paid employment for adults with developmental disabilities for whom employment is difficult to attain due to the individuals need for support in order to perform the duties of the job.

 

The employer would be responsible for paying the wage of the client at a rate of at least minimum wage and BPSES can provide a Work Facilitator who works with the client at no cost to the employer. The work facilitator would be responsible to train the client the skills of the job to the point where they are able to work independently. The level of support will be maintained or reduced at the progress of the client. BPSES will provide a work facilitator to work one-on-one with the client for as long as it is required, which is provided at no cost to the employer.
